What is Apple iCloud Private Relay?

Also: icloud private relay · private relay

Apple iCloud Private Relay is a privacy feature for iCloud+ subscribers that sends Safari traffic through two relays so neither Apple nor the website sees both your identity and your destination. Egress IPs run on partner networks like Cloudflare. It is not a commercial VPN and shouldn't be blocked as one.

Apple publishes its egress IP ranges as a daily CSV, so Private Relay traffic is identifiable. Many of a site's most loyal iOS users browse through it by default.

Treating Private Relay as a VPN and hard-blocking it is a common, costly mistake — it degrades the experience for ordinary iPhone users.

How IPLogs handles it

IPLogs loads Apple's official egress-IP CSV (~286,000 CIDRs across IPv4 and IPv6) and flags Private Relay as its own signal, distinct from commercial VPNs.
